"Christmas comes but once a year......!!!!" Choccie box entry

Finally..............

managed to get out of the house to get the camera fixed - been very difficult as we have over 1m of snow (for those across the pond 3+ ft)and the schools have been closed. Combine this with an expected low of -14C tonight (or 6.8 F apparently) and -25C (-13 F) forecast 20 miles up the road it has been an akward few days as you can imagine.

Anyway enough of that - on to my choccie box entry for Ambitatterous' contest here ..............................................................................

VIOLA!!!!!!!! I present to you

"Christmas comes but once a year!"

He's got such a fat tummy (partly hidden by the last After Eight chocolate) because he has just gorged himself on the entire box LOL.

He is made entirely of chains and whilst making him I happened upon an interesting discovery - if you tat a single double stitch then do a shuttle join to chain below & over and over again it ends up looking nothing like tatting but is very dense, holds it shape and almost looks a wee bit like crochet but not quite. I called it "brick stitch" as each shuttle join is in the slight gap made by the shuttle join on row below so you end up with a slightly staggered effect a bit like a wall. His paws are made of Sculpey but the rest of him really is tatting!!

This is his first head which I lost.........much to my annoyance

his tummy............

and his paws............

The 2nd head

& then various other shots

Hope you like him

PS He's got a furry tail cos he's a dormouse lol.

Such a darling doormouse he is, and especially plump from his choccie exploits! Well done, Trayna!

Has he a name? If not (yet) might I suggest Churchill? Or maybe Samuel...he kind of looks like a Samuel to me...

Of course you should choose whatever name you (or he) decide suits him best!

Cute mouse!--and I know he had a good time eating all that chocolate! --think maybe being snowed in he HAD to eat the WHOLE box! Congrats on a project well done. Karen thankful that we have only about 2" snow today.

Good luck on the chocolate box contest. Your mouse is very handsome! Sporting his red jacket perfect to eat a box of chocolate in. Thanks for sharing him with all of us.
Glad to see you are back & feeling better now. You are still in my prayers.

That's the only kind of mouse I will tolerate! I go nuts if there's a real one in the house. Fortunately, my husband stays on top of the problem, and I don't see them very often... knock on wood!

Adorable mouse and I'm glad he's at YOUR house eating up all your chocolate and not mine!

Sounds like you are doing the solid tatting that Carol (battatter) does on her projects. It was made known by Angeline Crichelow.

Thank you all so much for your very kind comments - and no, Isdihara he doesn't have a name as yet. Think I'll get my wee boy to name him with Churchill as a suggestion.

I love it!!

How about Gus-Gus... fat little mouse, that's who he reminds me of (from Cinderella)

What made you decide to try joining after only 1 ds?

Very clever idea

Very very clever, know the feeling when you loose your head!!! Sorry I mean the doormouse head.
Hope things are getting a little warmer up there in Scotland.

Hi Trayna,
I just found your blog (and finally figured out how to leave a comment!). I think your doormouse is the cutest tatted thing I have ever seen!
I am not sure how you did it, did you write a pattern out that you can share?

I also enjoy seeing your tattings with the different Lizbeth threads that you identify, because it helps to see it before placing my thread order!
Would love to see more of your stuff!
